About Us

Wirral based Smart Later Life are here to help you and your family protect your wealth now and when you have passed away.

We’ll help you to identify what’s important, by asking pertinent and thought-provoking questions. We will listen carefully, and tailor your will to your individual family circumstances, helping to safeguard your wishes for the future.

We know life is hectic, and we understand that visiting a solicitor’s office can be intimidating and inconvenient. We can make ourselves available to visit you at your home in The Wirral, Chester, Liverpool or North Wales, or via phone or video call, which ever you prefer. For your peace of mind, we are members of the Society of Will writers and Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners (STEP).

We are absolutely committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience, every time, and will aim to be available at a time that is convenient for you.

Our Review Service

We understand and appreciate life and family setups are constantly changing, and that is why we believe your will should do the same. We often see wills that are 10, 20 or even 30 years old, which can often lead to families falling out at a time when everyone is grieving. This is why we have introduced our Review Service, which aims to keep your will and other documents up to date, all the time.

Your Will, trust deed and Lasting Powers of Attorney, should always be kept up to date and relevant, so that your future wishes are always granted whatever happens. We often hear, “we’ll update our wills in a couple of years when our children are all married,” or “we’ll update our wills when our daughter’s/son’s divorce is finalised,” or “we may inherit in a few years time.” However, waiting could risk your assets falling into the wrong hands if you were to suddenly pass away unexpectedly. If you are waiting for the “right time” to write your will, please don’t, as there may never be a “right time.” Instead, take advantage of our Review Service, and write your will today, and then amend it at no additional cost if your circumstances change in the future.

Our comprehensive Review Service only costs £49 per year and includes the following.

  1. Complete re-write of your existing will whenever your circumstances change (maximum of one re-write every 2 years).

  2. Includes, Will and important document storage (usual cost £29 per year). You will be supplied with a Certificate of Safe Storage and Executor Retrieval Cards for your easy and secure return of documents in the future.

  3. You will not be charged to retrieve your documents from storage (usual cost £10).

  4. If you ever have any questions relating to your Will, Lasting Powers of Attorney, or trust documentation, we will be on hand to answer them.

  5. If you have experienced a change in circumstances, you can arrange a mutually convenient appointment at our office, over the phone or video call, to review your current Will, Lasting Powers of Attorney or Trust Deeds/Will Trust to make sure your current and future wishes are still secure (at most one review every 2 years).

  6. The Society of Will Writers recommend you to review your Will every three to five years to take into account any change in your circumstances. Therefore, if we have not heard from you for three years, we will reach out and invite you for a review.

  7. We will register your will with ‘WillFindA’ free of charge, so that your will can always be located (usual cost £9.99, Dec 2023).
